Early life:
Nirmala Sitharaman is an Indian politician. Right now, she is serving as the Indian Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs. Since 2014, Nirmala has been a member of the Rajya Sabha. On 18 August 1959, Nirmala was born in Madurai village, Madras, India. Narayan Sitharaman is her father, and Savitri is her mother. Her father worked for the Indian Railways. Her husband’s name is Parakala Prabhakar. Their marriage took place in 1985.
Prabhakar served as the communication advisor to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He is the father of a daughter. Nirmala completed her schooling in Madras and Tiruchirappalli. At Sitalakshmi Ramaswamy College, she has a BA degree in economics. In 1980, Nirmala received the degree of Master of Arts in Economics and the degree of M Phil. She has completed her Ph.D. education at Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1984.
Work :
In 2006, Nirmala joined the BJP. In 2010, she became a spokesperson for the party. In the year 2014, she has been working in the cabinet as a junior minister. In the year 2014, she has been elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha. On 31 May 2019, Nirmala has been appointed as the Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs. She is the first former woman finance minister of India.
Nirmala worked as a salesperson at Habitat, a home decor shop in Regent’s, London. She has been working as an assistant to the Economist in the Association of Agricultural Engineers. Nirmala has worked for Price Waterhouse as Senior Manager. Nirmala has worked in BBC World Service. She has served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry with the independent charge of the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs.
