About Draupadi Murmu:-
From the side of the NDA, Draupadi Murmu has been announced as the presidential candidate. On the evening of Tuesday, June 21, a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board was held in the presence of PM Narendra Modi. Following this, Draupadi Murmu emerged as the NDA’s presidential candidate. The presidential election will be held on July 18. Results will be announced on July 21. If Draupadi Murmu is elected, she will be India’s first tribal president and the country’s second female president.

Draupadi Murmu’s name was announced by BJP national president JP Nadda, who stated that for the first time, priority was given to a female tribal candidate for this position. At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his delight at Draupadi Murmu’s selection as the presidential candidate. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter,

Who is Draupadi Murmu?
Draupadi Murmu was born on June 20, 1958, in Baidaposi, a village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district. She’s from a tribe called the Santhal. Biranchi Narayan Tudu was her father’s name. At the same time, the husband’s name was Shyam Charan Murmu. They have a daughter named Itishree Murmu.
Draupadi Murmu acquired her bachelor’s degree from Ramdevi Women’s College in Bhubaneswar. From 1979 to 1983, she worked as a Junior Assistant in the Government of Odisha’s Department of Irrigation and Power. She afterward became a teacher. Draupadi Murmu worked as an assistant teacher at the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Center in Rairangpur from 1994 to 1997. But she soon became involved in politics. She was elected as a Rairangpur councillor in 1997.
Draupadi Murmu held various roles in the Odisha government between 2002 and 2004. She had an independent charge in the Department of Fisheries, was Minister of State for Animal Resource Development, and served in the Transport and Commerce Department. During this time, she was also elected as a BJP MLA from Rairangpur. On a BJP ticket, Draupadi Murmu won the legislative election for the second time in 2004. She was also appointed Vice President of the BJP’s Scheduled Tribe Morcha in 2002. She was also the Front’s State President from 2006 until 2009.
Draupadi Murmu’s political career as a leader has been excellent. She awarded the ‘Neelkanth Award’ for Best MLA of the Year in 2007. In 2010, She was appointed district president of Mayurbhanj by the party. She was re-elected to this position in 2013 and served as District President until April 2015. She was also the National Executive of the BJP’s ST Morcha at the time.
Draupadi Murmu achieved the peak of her career in 2015, when she was named Governor of Jharkhand. She is the country’s first tribal leader to be appointed governor of any Indian state. As governor, Draupadi Murmu was continually on the lookout for issues concerning tribal affairs, education, law and order, and Jharkhand’s health. At various times, She intervened with state government choices with constitutional dignity and decency.
Draupadi Murmu’s five-year tenure as governor was completed on May 18, 2020, but because of the Corona crisis, no new appointment could be made, hence the term was automatically get extended.

Draupadi Murmu’s early life was difficult because she was born into a tribal family. She grew raised in rural locations with insufficient development. Obviously, She had a lot of troubles while studying. Despite this, Draupadi Murmu had a successful professional and political career. If she is elected President, the party will profit in the upcoming assembly elections.

How seriously the BJP was considering Draupadi Murmu’s name for the presidential candidacy, it can be gauged from the fact that PM Narendra Modi himself shared the information about Murmu’s name being stamped with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik wrote on Twitter,

Following the release of this information, Naveen Patnaik stated that it was PM Modi who notified him about it. Patnaik stated that Draupadi Murmu’s election as the Presidential candidate is a source of pride for the whole state of Odisha. Draupadi Murmu will now face Yashwant Sinha, the common opposition candidate, on July 18.
